PCLinuxOS

PCLinuxOS is an up-and-coming Linux distribution that has been gaining lots of ground and support within the Linux community.

The best way to install GNUmed onto a PCLinuxOS system is via Synaptic Package Manager. To do so, simply start Synaptic, click the Reload button, then search for GNUmed, right click on the packages you want installed and mark them as such. Finally, click Apply and you are done!

This RPM-based distribution now has full support for binary distributable packages for both the GNUmed server and client. For manual installation the RPMs can be downloaded from http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/texstar/pclinuxos/apt/pclinuxos/2007/RPMS.extra/ and are called

  • gnumed-client-0.2.8.7-2pclos2007.i586.rpm
  • gnumed-common-0.2.8.7-2pclos2007.i586.rpm
  • gnumed-doc-0.2.8.7-2pclos2007.i586.rpm
  • gnumed-server-v8-4pclos2007.i586.rpm

Note however that as of January 19 2009 the packages are outdated. GNUmed is at version 0.3.9 currently and will see version 0,4 along with server version 10 soon. If you would like the latest GNUmed please take a look at the distribution independent packages
